Driving to Playa Matapalo (45 minutes) is about 17 km/11 miles south of Puerto Jimenez on the Carate highway (dirt road). From the petrol station and the supermarket (Corcovado BM) you will leave Puerto Jimenez, after leaving town you will cross a number of bridged creeks/rivers on your way out. There isn’t much around, and that’s what makes it special. Remote beaches, bumpy roads, and thick jungle that connects to the famous Corcovado National Park. Enjoy a hike to the King Louis waterfall. After a cold beer and some tasty food @ Martina’s Bar and restaurant. 4x4 Vehicles are recommended.
